This course allows existing Lead Auditors (who are qualified in another Standard ie ISO 9001, ISO 14001) to learn how to audit against ISO 45001:2018 OH&S. Delegates will learn how to plan, lead and report internal, supplier and external audits of an Occupational Health and Safety Management System. The course focuses solely on the knowledge and skills which are unique to ISO 45001.
Passing this ISO 45001 Auditor Conversion course is equivalent to passing an ISO 45001 Lead Auditor course, therefore the certificate is viewed as being of equal value.

Who should attend this ISO 45001 Auditor Conversion course?
- This course is only suitable for existing lead auditors who have previously completed a 5-day Lead Auditor course (in any ISO Standard). Please note, if you intend to register with CQI IRCA then the previous Lead Auditor course needs to have been CQI IRCA certified
- People who want to conduct internal, external and supplier audits of an ISO 45001 OH&S management system.
- Organisations that are implementing a new Occupational Health and Safety Management System against ISO 45001.
- This course satisfies the training requirement for anyone wishing to register as an Auditor with IRCA (International Register of Certified Auditors)
Delegates booking this course must have existing knowledge of ISO 45001:2018. If you do not have this knowledge, we would recommend taking our ISO 45001:2018 Foundation course beforehand. You can test your knowledge via our helpful ISO 45001 quiz.
What will delegates learn on this ISO 45001 Auditor Conversion course?
On this ISO 45001 Auditor Conversion course, we teach the following content in accordance with CQI and IRCA requirements –
- The benefits and purpose of an Occupational Health and Safety Management System
- The audit process and types of audit
- Plan, conduct and lead process audits
- Interviewing skills and the opening meeting
- Checklist and document development
- The closing meeting and report on findings
- Review a previous audit
ISO 45001:2018 requests that personnel are competent – this course provides essential skills and knowledge to help delegates become fully competent auditors.
Please note – ISO 45001 was introduced in 2018 and replaces OHSAS 18001 for Occupational Health and Safety. If you are an existing OHSAS 18001 auditor and want to update your training to ISO 45001, we would recommend attending an ISO 45001 Foundation course to learn the requirements of the Standard.

What is the course format?
- Training is a combination of tutor led sessions interspersed with individual and team-based exercises (approx 25% theory and 75% practical).
- This highly interactive course includes extensive use of a case study to enable skills to be developed.

What is the course assessment?
- Delegates will be assessed on their participation and general performance during the ISO 45001 Auditor Conversion course, including any interactive exercises, activities, case studies and audit simulation.
- 100% course attendance is required (a CQI and IRCA rule).
- After the course, delegates must complete a 1-hour 35-minute online e-assessment (ISO 45001 exam) with multiple choice questions. This can be completed on a date/time convenient to each delegate, but must be within 30-days of the course (a CQI and IRCA requirement). For best results we recommend doing this as soon as possible after the course. A webcam, microphone and speakers are required for the e-assessment.

What certificate is provided?
Once the ISO 45001 Auditor Conversion course has been completed and the exam has been passed, a CQI and IRCA certificate will be provided.
Please note – passing the ISO 45001 Auditor Conversion course exam is equivalent to passing an ISO 45001 Lead Auditor course exam, therefore the certificate is of equal value.
