iso 45001 anniversary

This month we celebrate the first birthday of ISO 45001:2018 OH&S; the internationally recognised ISO standard for Occupational Health and Safety – helping companies provide better working environments.

So, we are now one year on and ask ourselves “how has ISO 45001 been received?”

Let’s look at the stats…

>Since its release in March 2018, over 15,000 delegates have attended training across 23 countries; India, UK and UAE being the most popular*
>This new standard sits nicely in the ISO family and is often used alongside ISO 9001 Quality and ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems
>The most interest has been for ISO 45001 Lead Auditor training with ISO 45001 Migration training being surprisingly low in comparison*

*statistics supplied by CQI IRCA, March 2018 – March 2019.

With the 3 year migration period now well underway, we predict the next 2 years will show an increase in Migration as 18001 OHSAS certified companies move across to the new standard (March 2021 being the final deadline). Though, of course, ISO 45001 isn’t just for existing 18001 OHSAS auditors. We are seeing a large interest from those new to Occupational Health & Safety; perhaps having the ISO ‘stamp of approval’ has raised more awareness?
