ISO 45001 was introduced in March 2018 and replaces OHSAS 18001 for Occupational Health and Safety – companies have a three year migration period to move across to the new standard. We are now halfway through so if you havn’t migrated yet then we urge you to make a start; leaving it too late could have major implications for your company and future business –
- If you miss the migration deadline, your company will have to make a new application for ISO 45001 certification
- If your suppliers request you adhere to OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001 under their terms of business, you may need to inform them of the changes to your company
- Certification bodies are already in high demand, you may therefore struggle with availability if you leave it too close to the deadline
- It’s important to allow time to resolve potential non-conformities. If any issues are identified at Stage 1 you will need time to resolve before Stage 2 accreditation.
To ensure you don’t miss the March 2021 deadline we recommend you attend an ISO 45001 migration training course as soon as possible, we currently have availability on the following dates in 2020 –
