Implementation

ISO standards provide requirements, guidelines and technical specifications that can be used by virtually any organisation worldwide. When implemented as part of a management system, ISO standards can be used as a framework with various potential outcomes – for example:

  • ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems ensure that you products or services meet your customers requirements
  • ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems help to improve your environmental performance
  • ISO 27001 Information Security Management Systems help to ensure your information is secure

There are over 20,000 ISO standards currently in used in over 150 countries.

Any organisation of any size can benefit from implementing an ISO standard. Some industries now even insist that all suppliers have ISO certification before you can supply them with goods and services.
There are many benefits not only to businesses, but also to society in general. Here are a  few examples: Businesses

  • Environmental benefits – they can help to reduce your carbon footprint and any negative impacts your organisation may have on the environment
  • Increased profits – if you improve the quality of your product you will have a happy customer, and a happy customer is usually someone that will buy from you again
  • Cost savings – improving your processes and procedures will help reduce your costs
  • Open up new opportunities – International Standards can help to open up global markets and break trade barriers

Society

  • Safer world – for example Health & Safety standards can help to make the world a safer world to live in
  • Cleaner world – standards on air and water pollution help to preserve the planet not only for us, but for future generations
