Classroom Training

What is Classroom training?

Traditional, face to face training delivered by an expert tutor in a physical classroom setting.

How many people will be on the classroom course?

For the best learning experience, our classroom courses have between 4-12 delegates.

What’s the training room like?

Our venues offer light and bright training rooms. The room will be set up in a horseshoe shape to accommodate group discussions. The tutor will have a projector and flip charts at the front of the training room.  Depending on the course content there may be additional breakout areas to facilitate group exercises.

Do I need a laptop for classroom training?

Delegates are not required to take a laptop on a classroom training course.

 

Please note – most courses have online pre-course work which needs to be completed ahead of training, and some courses have an online exam that needs to be completed after training. 

Will there be any breaks throughout the classroom course?

Yes, there will be scheduled breaks throughout the day. Typically, this is a 30-minute lunch break and 15-minutes in the morning and afternoon.

Is food and drink included?

When attending classroom training at one of our venues, all refreshments and lunch are included in the course fee.

 

If the course is in-house at your workplace, the booker from your organisation is responsible for arranging all refreshments and lunch.

Virtual Training

What is Virtual training?

Learn from home with Virtual training – perfect for anyone who wants to avoid spending time travelling or accommodation costs

  • Flexible – study from any location, from home or work
  • Easy to use – all you need is a computer with a webcam, microphone and speakers

What is the format of the course?
  1. After booking on the course you will be emailed log-in details to access the virtual classroom via Zoom.
  2. You will be sent a printed manual prior to the course which will arrive via the post – you will need to refer to this throughout the course.
  3. The tutor will be live and will greet you when you log into the virtual classroom. They will teach by screen sharing the course slides and using a virtual whiteboard for annotations during group sessions. Throughout the course you will be sent files and use virtual breakout rooms for group exercises.
  4. After you have successfully completed the course, you will be emailed a PDF certificate.
Are virtual courses CQI and IRCA certified?
Yes – our virtual courses have been assessed by CQI IRCA and have the same certification as our traditional classroom courses.
How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed based on your participation during the course, to ensure that you have learnt the necessary information. Some courses have a virtual test/exam at the end of the course.

Can my team do the training?

Yes, we can schedule a virtual course on a date to suit you and your team.

Virtual training is ideal for large corporations with several locations, as it saves the need for travel.

What are the computer requirements?

You must have access to a fast and reliable internet connection. Your computer will require a webcam, microphone and speakers – many people find the use of a headset easier. Please test all equipment prior to the course to ensure they are functioning correctly.

 

Virtual courses are taught via Zoom which is compatible with Chrome, FireFox and Edge; we recommend using the latest version of internet browser. If preferred, Microsoft Teams is also available for in-company training.

 

You do not need previous experience of using Zoom; we will supply a helpful guide which you will need to look at prior to the course please.

Will there be any breaks throughout the course?

Our courses usually run from 8.45am – 5.30pm (finish time may be later on some Lead Auditor courses), and there will be scheduled breaks throughout the day. It is expected that people may need to occasionally step away from their computer screen, but any substantial time absent will impact the learning needed to successfully complete the course.

How many people will be on the course with me?

There will be a max of 8 delegates in the virtual classroom.

What is Zoom?

Zoom is a cloud platform (application) for video, voice, content sharing, chat and training. It runs across virtually any laptop or PC as long as you have a good internet connection.

 

We use Zoom for our Virtual training courses*, but don’t worry if you haven’t used it before. It is easy to use and we provide help and support to all of our delegates; before the course, you will have a pre-course phone call with our training administrators, at which point you will have an opportunity to ask any questions. On the first day of training, the tutor will begin with a quick overview of how to use Zoom during your training.

 

*We can also offer Microsoft Teams training for in-house training; please speak to our team for more info.

Online Training

What is Online training?

Offering complete flexibility, online training is perfect if you have a busy schedule and need to fit in training around other commitments.

What is the format of the course?
  1. After booking on the course, you will be emailed unique log-in details along with a link to the Digital Learning Portal – learning can then begin!
  2. You will be taught online via a series of interactive lessons, presentations, videos, animations and quizzes.
  3. After you have successfully completed the online course, you will be emailed a PDF certificate.
Are online courses CQI and IRCA certified?

We are proud to be the first company in the UK to have ISO 9001 Foundation Online with CQI IRCA certification. We also have CQI IRCA certification on our ISO 14001 Foundation Online course.

 

All other online courses are Batalas certified.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed throughout the course via online activities and quizzes to ensure you have gained the necessary knowledge.

Can my team do the training?

Yes, our online courses are perfect for team training; they are an easy and effective way to ensure everyone has the same knowledge with no time away from the office. Some companies use our online courses as part of their induction process for new employees!

How long do I have to complete the course?

You will have 30 days to complete the online course (access ends on completion).

Will there be anyone else on the course with me?

No, there won’t be any other delegates doing the course with you and no live tutor teaching.

Public Training

What is Public training?

Courses that are scheduled on a specific date and time, where you are joined by other delegates.

How many people will be on a public course?

Courses taught at one of our training venues will have between 4-12 delegates. When learning in a virtual classroom we limit this to a max of 8 or 9 delegates depending on the course level.

Can I book my team onto a public course?

Yes, you can book several employees onto one of our public courses, however when booking for four or more people we’d recommend considering an in-house course as a more cost-effective option.

Does the training venue offer accommodation?

Yes, most of our venues offer accommodation, and a reduced rate is available to Batalas delegates (the only exception is Engineers House in Bristol which doesn’t offer accommodation; however, there are several reasonably priced hotels near the training venue).  

Accommodation bookings are to be made with the hotel directly and are not included in the Batalas course fee.  Please click here to see the contact details for our training venues

Is parking included at the venue?

Yes, all our venues offer free parking to anyone attending a Batalas training course.

Is food and drink included?

Delegates will receive refreshments and lunch when attending training at one of our venues, which is included in the course fee.

In-House Training

What is In-house training?

Dedicated ISO training for your team, perfect for organisations who need to train 4 or more employees.

  • Any location – we can come to any workplace worldwide or teach via Zoom
  • Convenience – scheduled on a date and time to suit your team

How many people do I need for in-house training?

Due to our training courses being highly interactive, we require a minimum of 4 delegates to ensure course dynamics. We recommend a max of 10 delegates, but this is dependent on the course level and learning style (in-person or virtual).

What type of training room and equipment do I need?

We will need a dedicated room for training.  We understand that all rooms are different shapes and sizes, and they have different facilities. Below is an example of a typical training room, this is the type of ‘U’ shaped layout that we use at all our own venues and is ideal for training. However, we can deliver training in other room layouts such as a boardroom with one large table if necessary.

 

The tutor will bring digital projector equipment, please provide somewhere for the projector to be seated and ensure that it is not too close to the delegates. We will need a screen (or light coloured wall) to project on to.

 

The tutor will require a separate chair/table at the front of the room to seat their laptop and tutor materials.

 

We require a flipchart or large whiteboard at the front of the room for the tutor to draw diagrams on (we can provide flipcharts).

 

During the course the tutor may need to split the delegates into groups for practical exercises, therefore a small ‘break out’ room separate from the training room may also be required.

What times do you need access to the training room?

Our tutors require access to the room from 8am to allow for set-up and to prepare for training.  Course end times vary between 5.30-6.30pm; late access outside of typical office hours may therefore be required.

 

If the course runs for 2 or more days, then we request that the training room remains exclusively for use by Batalas for the duration to save additional set-up time each day.

Do I need to provide refreshments?

Yes – we recommend refreshments (tea, coffee, biscuits) during morning and afternoon breaks (15mins).

 

A light lunch, or use of your organisations eating facilities is required during the 30-45 minute lunch break.

 

We recommend you provide water on the delegates tables to help keep them hydrated throughout the course as this can help with concentration.

Does inhouse training cost more than public training?

No – inhouse training is much more cost-effective when training a team.  

 

We price our in-house courses per course, and not per delegate. Therefore, you can make considerable cost savings when training a group of staff, all for a fixed course fee.

 

The cost per person is around 50% cheaper than public training (based on 10 delegates).

Can you teach my team online?

Yes, we can teach via Zoom in virtual classroom with a live tutor – this is often the preferred choice for larger organisations with employees at different locations.

Do I have to pay extra costs for the tutor to travel to my workplace?

No – our quote includes all fees related to the tutor delivering the course, there are no additional hidden fees.

 

Please note – if our tutor travels outside of the UK then additional costs are applicable and are quoted on request. 

My organisation isn’t in the UK, can you still do our training?

Yes, our tutors regularly travel oversees to deliver team training. Alternatively, we can teach virtually via Zoom with a live tutor.

Do I need to book accommodation for the Batalas tutor?

No – don’t worry, we will handle all the arrangements for the tutor.

Do you provide any training materials for my team?

Yes – we provide all materials during the course; these include delegate manuals for each attendee, exercise, name cards, pencils and pens. The materials will normally be brought to your venue by the tutor. In certain circumstances these materials will be sent by post to the course organiser, for safe keeping prior to the course.

My team have different levels of ISO knowledge, is that ok?

Yes – when we do inhouse training it’s common for team members to have different levels of experience and knowledge of the ISO Standard.

 

We provide pre-course work to help fill any gaps in knowledge prior to training.  If we are teaching one of our higher-level courses, then we may suggest having a Foundation course beforehand to ensure the less-experienced attendees are equipped. 

I don’t have a training room; can you still do in-house training?

Yes – if your preference is for us to deliver training in person (rather than virtually), but you dont have facilities onsite, then we would recommend you hire a meeting room which can usually be accommodated by most hotels.
