The auditor Robert was great, well engaged with us all. He had a wealth of auditing experience so he had great examples to talk us through.
About you
Currently I am Production Manager in HSDU Sterile Services at the Great Western Hospital Swindon.
I have been in post since April 2022.
I manage a team of 40 technicians who clean dirty used theatre medical sets and re-process, re-sterilize to then return back to theatres to re-use.
Up to the course I had no real auditing experience in detail.
I had seen auditors in previous roles, so I had a basic understanding.
About your company
The NHS has been running for the last 75 years.
The GWH has been here for 23 years, currently it employs over 5500 people.
The sterile services department employs 60 people in total and we ensure all 15 theatres have the right medical sets for each operating procedure every day, 7 days a week.
We are located next to the theatres in the GWH to make deliveries and collection easier for all.
About auditing
We now have 8 people in our auditing team.
We use ISO 13485 international standard.
Previously the challenge was not having enough auditors, we do now.
Planned scheduled auditing days are now in place to deliver a full audit.
About the course
I attended the QMS Internal Auditors course based on ISO 13485, it was over 2 intense days.
I attended the training with 3 other colleagues from the Sterile services team.
We all attended so we can all support in the auditing of ISO 13485 against our current processes, policies and SOPs here in Sterile services.
About Batalas
The 2 days were intense and we learnt lots of detail, for how to audit.
The auditor “Robert” was great, well engaged with us all.

About auditing after the training
As A team we are about to start auditing later this month.
We each have specific areas from our ISO, for example I will be auditing 7.4 Purchasing, 7.5 production and service provision.

Currently enjoying my role and I have no plans to change at present.

Go for it!
